New GP trainees starting at Dorking Medical Practice

At Dorking Medical Practice, we have always been proudly involved with Health Education England (HEE). HEE are working to support the delivery of excellent healthcare and health improvement to the patients and public of England by ensuring that the workforce of today and tomorrow has the right numbers, skills, values and behaviours, at the right time and in the right place. HEE working across Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) Primary Care Department is responsible for the delivery of general practice education and training and developments for the larger primary care workforce.

There is a significant crisis in the NHS workforce and this is no different in general practice and primary care. There are plans to try to address this by increasing workforce capacity. Dorking Medical Practice are at the forefront of this and as an established GP training practice we will be hosting a significant number of trainee GPs in the next few years. These are all qualified doctors who have been through junior doctor hospital training and have chosen to specialise in becoming a GP. Although they are fully qualified doctors, they will have full support and supervision from senior GPs while working at the practice. We wanted to let you know about these changes at the practice so that you are aware you may see several new faces at the surgery. We feel it is our duty to be involved in the training of the next generation of the NHS GP workforce and we hope that you will support us in this endeavour.
